A change of plan to share my story with you all…

Firstly, it’s been a long time and I’m sorry to everyone that was following my blogs for the first 3000 miles of my walk and wanted more, they stopped when I was forced to rest up with a cracked heal bone and I never got started again when I returned to the walk. It was merely a coincidence that I was forced to stop at roughly half way round and it was only after a great deal of consideration that I decided to change the way I recorded the story. Please understand that every blog post I wrote would take me 2-3 hours which of course I had to try and write while lying in my tent, often exhausted after a day of walking but the biggest and most frustrating problem I always had was the lack of decent WiFi which meant I couldn’t upload the photos. As a consequence, I was often a week or more behind with the posts which created problems for anyone trying to offer me help, they would read my latest blog but I could be 80-100 miles further around when they read it so their time was then wasted trying to contact me to offer assistance. This was frustrating for the kind people trying to help me which in turn was making me feel bad.

To that end, I have decided to continue keeping a diary which I will use to influence the book at the end of the challenge and instead of the blog, I try to keep those interested in following me updated on the social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. I’ve also created a YouTube channel which I do try to use but it is proving difficult, again because of the almost useless WiFi signals around the coast.

For anyone interested in following the remainder of this walking challenge, these are the links to the various platforms.

My personal Facebook page.

The WalktheEdge Facebook page.

My TikTok link.

My YouTube channel.

And finally, my Instagram page.

I does seem like far to many platforms I know but different people prefer to use different platforms and even if you don’t use any social media platforms, the YouTube channel might work best for you.

So, at the time of writing this, it’s nearly the middle of August, I am currently in Cornwall, a days walk south of Falmouth. I’ve walked over 4000 miles and raised just under £45,000 for the Masonic Charitable Foundation. There are many more Lodges to visit in the remaining 2000 or so miles I need to walk to get back to Lincolnshire so I’m hopeful that we will get closer to that £100,000 aspiration. I’m not entirely sure but I think I’ll cross the finish line back in Lincolnshire sometime in February 2025.

Finally, just incase you would like to contribute or share my funding link to help me try to raise the £100,000, it is.

And, if you’d like to help me personally with my daily expenditure, you can buy me a coffee or a beer if you’d prefer. This is the link.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the many people that have supported me so far, with offers of assistance and sponsorship, without all of that help, I’m certain I would would not have made it this far into the challenge.

The challenge will enter its final stage as winter approaches so thank you in advance for and help you may offer.

Take good care of yourselves and each other and please continue to help me to raise awareness and open up the conversation about mental health, it’s ok not to be ok and it’s ok to talk about it. 🥰

Is it this way to Skegness ???
